After four decades as a fan favorite, the Volkswagen Golf GTI returns for its eighth outstanding generation in 2022. It's more powerful, redesigned, and ready to make your Los Angeles commutes more exciting and engaging at Volkswagen of Downtown L.A.
The VW Golf GTI is the compact hatchback that other hatchbacks strive to be. Stylish, with four doors, seating for five, and a spacious cargo hold for gear, this is a great car whether you're single or have a family, and whether you have a short commute or a long one.
With the launch of its 2022 model year version comes the debut of its eighth generation, and we have our top three favorite things to know and love about it right here. Read on for the highlights and stop by to see us and experience this thrilling car for yourself.
- More power. The new VW Golf GTI gets an upgraded powertrain and boost in output. Standard power comes from a similar, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as previous models, except now it's tweaked to produce 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This is up from 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque in the previous generation.
- New interior design and new tech. Slip inside the new VW Golf GTI and you may notice that the interior has been overhauled this year as well. The current models get a new design inside as well as new tech, such as a standard 8.25-inch touchscreen interface (up from 6.5 inches last year).
- New frontend design. While the latest Golf GTI models continue to give drivers the familiar hatchback design they've come to know and love, it does get a slight tweak in its exterior appearance. This is most noticeable in the frontend, where the new models have a more aggressive look that other drivers will notice coming even at a distance.
