Front-wheel drive models of the 2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen have received a new engine that replaces the 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine found in the 2018 Golf SportWagen. This new engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Outputting 147 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, this new engine has more than enough power to make highway travel a pleasant experience.

The other major change made to the Volkswagen Golf SportWagen for 2019 can be found in the highest trim, SE. Driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, high beam control and a lane keeping assistance system now come standard in all SE models. Drivers who opt for one of the two lower trims have access to an available Driver Assistance package, which includes a blind-spot monitoring system, a forward collision warning system, rear traffic alerts and automatic emergency braking.
