Two powertrain options are available for the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas. A four-cylinder, 3.6-liter engine which generates 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque is the base powertrain for almost every 2018 Atlas model. An optional V6 engine with an output of 276 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque is available as well. An eight-speed automatic transmission system comes paired with both engine options.
Those who purchase a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas will find themselves choosing between five trim levels: S, SE, SE w/technology, SEL and SEL Premium. The four-cylinder engine comes standard on S, SE, SE w/technology and SEL models, while the V6 engine comes standard in the SEL Premium trim and is optional for all other trims.
2018 Volkswagen Atlas EPA Fuel Economy Ratings
The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas’s standard powertrain received fuel economy ratings of 22 miles per gallon, 26 miles per gallon and 24 miles per gallon for city travel, highway travel and combined city/highway travel respectively. The V6 engine was rated for 17 mpg in city driving conditions, 23 mpg when on the highway and 19 mpg for combined city/highway travel conditions.
